Speaker
Our speaker today was Naomi Sied-Conkrite from KARA. Kara is dedicated to providing compassionate support to those who are grieving a death or facing a life-threatening illness. Their mission is to empower all age groups to integrate grief into their lives and find the capacity to move forward with renewed hope.
Kara was founded in 1976 and has provided grief support services to the San Francisco Bay Area since that time. The word Kara comes from the Gothic root of the word care. It means to reach out, to lament, to grieve with, to care. Kara has always been supported by community donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
Kara's services are provided primarily by volunteers who have experience in healing from personal loss. Volunteers are trained to facilitate others' journeys during life-threatening illness, anticipatory grief and bereavement. There is no charge to clients for services, however, a request is made at the initial interview for a donation (pledge) toward administrative costs. The availability of client services is not affected by one's ability to make a donation.
Joker - Joker
Kristin cleaned up today. She drew for her win last
week and got a joker worth $25, then she won again
this week and on her second draw got $9.
New Member Alert
Today Margaret Lee attended her third meeting and turned in paperwork to become a member. After the meeting the Board met and voted to welcome her in. That means she will soon have a new-member apron for all to sign. Don't forget.
Happy/Sad Dollars
Margaret Lee must have been joyous as she put $20 in to say how happy she was to be there and in celebration of her father's 92nd birthday.
Art was happy a dollars worth with his Valentine gift from Myrna; a singing dog, which he brought to the meeting with him.
Kristin put in a happy/sad dollar because she attended a tennis match (that's the happy) but she had to go in the old car as hubby was driving the new one.
Dale plopped down a sad dollar because his dental problems have led him to need require surgery.
Dave G. put a sad dollar in because he went to the dentist and has now declared them to be crooks. Then he added a happy buck to announce he attended the AT&T Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach.
Speaking of the AT&T; Steve was there and put in a happy $2. Jim also attended and put a happy dollar in the pot.
Have You Heard The One About.......???
Queen Elizabeth and Dolly Parton die on the same day. They
both go before the angel to find out if they'll be admitted to heaven. Unfortunately, there's only one space left that day, so the angel must decide which of them gets in. The angel asks Dolly if there's some particular reason why she should go to heaven, whereupon she took off her top and said, "Look at these, they're the most perfect breasts God ever created, and I'm sure it will please Him to be able to see them every day for eternity." The angel thanks Dolly, and asks Her Majesty the same question.
The Queen took a bottle of Perrier out of her purse, shook it up, and gargled. Then, she spit into the toilette and pulled the lever. The angel said, "OK, your Majesty, you may go in."
Dolly is outraged and asks, "What was that all about?" "I show you two of God's own perfect creations and you turn me down. She simply gargled and she got in. Would you explain that to me?"
"Sorry, Dolly," said the angel, "but even in heaven, a royal flush beats a pair, no matter how big they are."

Out 'n About
Richard went to Reno for a Let It Ride Tournament, but didn't make it to the finals. He had the fine-free badge so no money was owing.
He also shared a personal tragedy. He always attends the
nightly drawings and has been called once where he won
$100. For some unknown reason on Saturday night he
returned to the suite early to enjoy his room service meal.
And whilst waiting for dinner to arrive, decided to partake of
a bubble bath in the jacuzzi tub. Later on when he went downstairs, he learned that his name had been called at the 9pm drawing and that his bubble bath had cost him $2,000!! Needless to say, he was not a happy camper. Clean and sweet-smelling, but not happy.
Art went skiing in Bear Valley and paid a fine of $7.
The Old Fine Pot
Nick bought a new car and paid a fine of $11.
Dave G. bought Nick's old car and paid a fine of $11.
Jim was the secret greeter today and Art neglected to shake his hand resulting in a fine of $1.
Total K-Day
We will be working at the new Cupertino Library on March 12th. The project has, as yet, not been defined. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up with Prez Dave.
