January's Speakers

Sandi Selvi, a local comedian, and (former) MS sufferer, shared her experience with a stem cell transplant.  In March 2000, she became the first woman in California to undergo the experimental treatment and she was delighted to share with us that her MS was virtually cured.  During the long
recuperative period she says she read a lot of joke books and decided
then and there to become a comedian.  She has performed since at venues
all across the country and in Canada and has a featuring role in the movie
"Comedy Ain't for the Money."  She plans to share her experience with
Congress in the hopes that stem cell research can continue.

David Knapp, Cupertino's City Manager, joined us to chat about the latest
happenings in the city.

Our own Doug shared his experience at the 119th annual Rose Bowl Parade.

Happy/Sad Dollars

Richard paid one happy dollar to annouce a new grandchild due in August and another for his celebrity sighting at a recent model party.  He also tossed in a buck for his first paid gig of the new year.  Then came the sad dollar due to his car be burglarized and all his camera equipment taken.

Dale had a happy dollar because his recent medical test results were good.

Dave G. had two happy dollars.  One because someone in his office came back after being MIA for a couple of months and another for his recent visit to the San Jose Tech Museum to see the living dead.

Chuck paid a happy dollar because of recent eye surgery that went well.

Clark tossed in a very happy dollar because a friend who was not expected to leave the hospital after a recent admission, did in fact get better and get discharged.

Fenton paid a happy and sad dollar.  The sad because his granddaughter had been hospitalized and the happy because she's back home.

And, of course, there were various happy and sad dollars paid related to sports.

Out 'n About

Doug attended the Rose Bowl parade.  As possessor of the fine-free badge for December, he paid nothing.

Both Clark and Richard went to Vegas.  Clark rolled 2 aces forcing everyone in attendance to pay $2 while he got off scott free and Richard rolled an 8 and paid a fine of $16.

Art took a cruise to Cabo, etc. and shared his experience taking a zip line over one of the canyons.  His fine was $10.

Steve went to Palm Desert and paid a fine of $6.

Clark traveled to Tahoe/Reno.  He still had the fine-free badge.

Well Wishes

Hal was hospitalized for a while, but has been released and is, hopefully, on the mend.  We send our wishes for a speedy recovery out to him.

Fine-Free Badge

January's badge went to Clark for $8 and he re-bought it for February for $6.
