Speaker

Gloria Chacon, Court Manager of the Santa Clara County Superior Court's Civil Grand Jury, was our speaker today.  She explained to us how the Civil Grand Jury came to be and how it operates.

Guests

Doc from Mtn. View was our only guest today excluding the speaker.

Joker - Joker

It was Doug's turn to win; he drew a ten.

This 'n That

Remember that next week is the Lt. Governor's visit and official Joke-a-Thon day.  Everyone is to come with their best joke and there will be hefty fines for any off-color or just plain bad humor.

Kristin bought the fine-free badge for February at a cost of $16.

Hal was today's secret greeter and was pleased that everyone had shaken his hand.

Have You Heard The One About.........?????

Over breakfast one morning, a woman said to her husband, "I bet you don't know what day this is."

"Of course I do," he indignantly answered, going out the door to his office.

At 10 am the doorbell rang and when the woman opened the door, she was handed a box containing a dozen long stemmed red roses.

At 1 pm, a foil wrapped, two-pound box of her favorite chocolates arrived.

Later, a boutique delivered a designer dress.

The woman couldn't wait for her husband to come home. "First the flowers, then the chocolates, and then the dress!" she exclaimed.  "I've never had a more wonderful Groundhog Day in my life!"

Happy/Sad Dollars

Kristin had a sad dollar because of all the confusion related to planning their upcoming trip to Mexico.

Fenton put in a happy dollar because his Ophthalmologist gave his eyes a clean bill of health.

Pete was happy to be back with us after 3 months in Palm Springs and tossed in a buck.

Nick paid a dollar because Paula was back and in honor of his granddaughter's recent engagement.

Dave G. was happy to announce that his son's soccer team was written up in the Saratoga News.

Richard paid a confused dollar because his company was bought by the French.  He's not sure yet whether or not it's a happy or sad turn of events.

Miscellaneous

Doug is trying to put together an interclub with Sunnyvale on Feb. 22nd.  If you are interested in their 7:15 AM breakfast meeting, let him know.

Anne was absent today and will be again next week as her brother-in-law has passed away.  Our condolences to the family.

A get well card was passed around for Maggie Burkland who is under the weather.  We hope she's feeling in tip-top shape again soon.
