Speaker

Our speaker today, Lisa Meyers, created Let's Go Birding because she has a passion for birds and the environment!

She taught bird watching classes for years, and enjoyed working with people and introducing them to the avian world.  Eventually, she realized that there were a lot of people that wanted to do more birding!  She created Let's Go Birding in order to provide more opportunities for those people. Along with having a lot of fun in one of Lisa's classes, people can increase their birding skill level in a non-intimidating atmosphere.

She says having her own business catering to bird watchers is a dream come true!  It allows her to enjoy what she does for a living, which is educating people about their environment.

Have You Heard The One About....?

A couple decided to go for a meal and after some
deliberation settled for their local Chinese restaurant.
They perused the menu and finally agreed to share the chef's special 'Chicken Surprise.'  The waiter brought over the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.  Just as the wife was about to start in on it, the lid of the pot rose by a tiny amount and she
briefly saw two beady little eyes looking around before
the lid slammed back down.

'Good grief, did you see that?' she asked her husband. He
hadn't so she asked him to look in the pot. He reached for
it and as he did the lid rose and he saw two beady little
eyes looking around before it firmly slammed back down.

Rather perturbed he called the waiter over, explained what was happening, and demanded an explanation. 'Well sir', said the waiter, 'What did you order?'

'We both chose the same', he replied, 'the Chicken Surprise'

'Oh I do apologize, this is my fault' said the waiter.  'I've brought you the Peeking duck'

Happy/Sad Dollars

Richard paid a couple of happy dollars to announce that his father is getting married.  His new bride is a high school classmate he became reacquainted with during a 60th reunion.  The nuptials are set for June 20th in Maui.

Clark added a happy dollar because his daughter and grandson are coming to visit.

Doug was happy to place a dollar in the pot in anticipation of his Grand Canyon rafting trip.

Brian put in a sad dollar because a barn fire at his parents home, where they raise llamas and alpacas, killed all of the animals.

Board News

At the last board meeting we decided to buy 2 large bookcases from the Bring-Me-A-Book Foundation.  The bookcases will then be donated to 2 organizations that can greatly benefit from them.  The cost for both is $1200.  $300 of the cost is deferred by a grant from Cal-Nev-Ha.

Good News!

Brian paid a fine of $8 for his 2-week trip to Hawaii.  The highlight of the trip, he says, was when a school of dolphins appeared not far offshore and he and his family were able to get out and actually swim with them!
