Speaker

Today's speaker was Stan Van Celsor, whose topic of discussion was global warming.  He shared that it is hoped that we will be able to produce 20 percent of our electricity from renewable energy sources by 2020.  His program included sharing ways we, as individuals, can take action to decrease the amount of energy we use.  They include:

Encouraging the establishment of strong energy-efficiency standards for electronics, home appliances, and buildings.

Buying energy-efficient electronics and appliances. Replacing an old refrigerator, air conditioner, or heating system with an energy-efficient model will save money on our electricity bills and cut global warming pollution. Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances or go to www.energystor.gov to find the most energy-efficient products.

Buttoning up your house to save energy by weather-stripping  windows and doorways. Start replacing old light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs.

Finally, call your local utility company to get a free energy audit and learn about more ways to save money and energy.

Have You Heard The One About....?

A guy goes into the doctor's office. There is a banana stuck in one of his ears, a cucumber in the other and a carrot stuck in one nostril.

The man says, "Doc, this is terrible. What's wrong with me?"

The doctor says, "Well, first of all, you're not eating right"

Happy/Sad Dollars

Prez Dave paid a happy dollar because he was able to play in the West Metro Kiwanis' golf tournament.

Doug was happy that he went to an A's game and watched his team win.

Dave M. added a happy dollar because he went to a performance of Beach Blanket Babylon and said he enjoyed it very much.

Art paid a happy dollar to say that Nick is doing well, but says he needs to walk more.

Dave M. dropped in a second dollar, this one sad, because he too played in the West Metro's tournament, but played abysmally..

Dave G. paid a sad dollar because Kristin attempted to burn down their house.  Who knew you shouldn't put a roast on and then leave it unattended for hours?  Upon her return she found black smoke filling the house but nary a neighbor seemed to notice the billowing plume.  Needless to say, they had some damage to drapes, clothes and the like.  Hopefully, they have insurance (wouldn't that be funny?)  Wonder if they ate the roast.............

Out 'n About

Bruce traveled to Agusuta, Georgia and complained heartily about the Atlanta airport.  He paid a fine of $6.
