Happy/Sad Dollars
Art was happy a dollar's worth that he was able to attend the Monta Vista High School senior awards ceremony and hand out the club's scholarships to three deserving graduating seniors.
Then, Dale put in five happy dollars to say he was glad Art was able to attend the Monta Vista event in his absence.
Richard raised the pot a dollar because he was happy to have had a weekend of picture taking, including being the official photographer of Sunday's San Francisco Carnival Parade. He also announced that photos from the Special Games are available for viewing on his website www.digitalphotography.snugmug.com.
Chuck was happy to have been at a school district softball game where he saw a great play by one of the girls. Turns out the player was one of Dave and Kristin's daughters.
Dave G. paid a sad dollar because he missed his daughter's great play; he was attending the game of another of his offspring.
Kristin added a sad dollar because she had to take a field trip to the zoo and missed last week's meeting.
One of our guests, Sandy, paid a happy dollar because she was able to attend a weekend conference at the Marin Headlands.
Another guest, and another Sandy (Gumm), from the Bayshore club paid a sad dollar because he missed the Special Games.

Speaker
Today's speaker, Michael Maurier, is a member of The
National Civil War Association, an organization dedicated
to the education of the public about the people and events
of the Civil War. The NCWA presents its living history for
the public in many forms; including military and civilian
encampments, battle reenactments, lectures and demonstrations,
and school programs upon request. Michael, who arrived in full battle dress, shared with us his involvement with the Association and stressed to us how real the reenactments actually are.

Have You Heard The One About........?
President George W., feeling a little distraught over current events, was walking through Washington looking for any kind of guidance. He walked to the Washington Monument, looked up and said, "George, you were always wise, what should I do?" Low and behold, a voice comes down from above and says, "ABOLISH THE I.R.S. AND START OVER."
Dubbaya, amazed that he is talking to the past President, thinks he'll try it again. So, he walks over to the Jefferson Memorial and utters the same request to America's author of the Declaration of Independence and one of its great early philosophers. "Thomas, you never had these kinds of problems, what can I do to rally people behind me?" Again a voice from above answers, "WELFARE, IT'S NOT WORKING, ABOLISH IT, START OVER."
After hearing this he's so excited that he decides to go to all the historic sites for guidance. Next he goes to the Lincoln Memorial for advice from the President who met his untimely death after winning the Civil War and keeping the country unified. "Abe, I need your help, people are losing confidence in me and they no longer trust me; what should I do?" After a substantial pause Abe responds, "TAKE THE DAY OFF, GO TO THE THEATER."
