Speaker

Our speaker on October 17th was Christine Benninger, Director of the Silicon Valley SPCA and Bess, a sweet, 3-legged dog hit by a car and adopted by Christine just last year.

On October 24th Maryanne Tseng and Laurence Fok from Charter Funding
talked about home mortgages.

Guests

5 members of the DeAnza club joined us at the 17th meeting, along with Charlie Bonovac, and on Oct. 24th we had the pleasure of Doc's company.

Perfect Attendance

Art handed out 2 pins for perfect attendance.  One went to Dave G. for 19 years and the other was an 11 year pin to Bruce.

Happy/Sad Dollars

Dale was more than happy to drop a dollar in the old fine pot after receiving good news from his Dr.

Charlie was hap, hap, happy to announce he is only 90 days away from retirement.

Chuck added a dollar for the Cal Bears followed by a dollar contribution from Dave G. for the Chicago Bears.

Richard put in a happy dollar and a sad.  Happy because he had a full weekend of snapping pictures and at one event, for the Sherrifs department, he won a life-sized steel sculpture of a old-time sherrif that can be used for target practice.  Now all he needs is something to shoot at it.  The sad dollar was because he took a bit of a tumble at the event causing everyone in sight to believe he'd been shot.  Happily no bullet was involved, he simply stepped in a hole and went down resulting in slight injuries to elbow and knee.

Doug was happy that Kristin won Kiwaniian of the Year.

Doug was sad about the A's so he contributed a buck.

Out 'n About

Doug  confesed to attending a Jr. College reunion in Palm Springs.

Clark headed to a family reunion in Minnesota.  He also admitted to having experienced some chest pain and a resulting stent placement in his heart.

Art paid an $8 fine for his trip to Palm Springs.

Upcoming Events - Look What's Coming Up!

November 9 - Board Meeting

Birthday Greetings

The group celebrated with Dale at lunch on the 24th (he even brought a cake to share.)  He paid a $6 birthday fine.  Although not quite his birthday yet, Don pre-paid his birthday fine - a $10 addition to the pot.  Both, by the way, are celebrating #83.

Joker-Joker

Chuck won Joker-Joker and scored five big ones at the meeting on Oct. 17th.
Don took the prize of $7 on Oct. 24th.

So Many Things For A Dog To Remember

I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
The garbage collector is NOT stealing our stuff.
I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.
I will scootch my bottom along the grass to rid myself of "hangers-on."
I will stop trying to find the few remaining pieces of clean carpet in the house when I am about to throw up.
I will not lick my human's face after eating poop.
"Kitty box crunchies" are not food.
I will not eat any more socks and then redeposit them in the backyard after processing.
The diaper pail is not a cookie jar.
I will not chew my human's toothbrush and not tell them.
I will not chew crayons or pens, especially not the red ones, or my people will think I am hemorrhaging.
When in the car, I will not insist on having the window rolled down when it's raining outside.
We do not have a doorbell. I will not bark each time I hear one on TV.
I will not steal my Mom's underwear and dance all over the backyard with it.
The sofa is not a face towel.
My head does not belong in the refrigerator, dishwasher or trashcan.
I will not bite the officer's hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and car registration.
I will not take off while on leash to chase squirrels while Mommy is standing on a slippery grass slope.
